Last year we climbed Osceola but did not make it all the way to the East Peak. That Father's day in 2004, when we climbed Osceola, was really the first day that we began to seriously entertain the possibility of doing all 48 peaks above 4000 feet. Unfortunately our inspiration did not happen until we reached the summit and we weren't prepared mentally or time-wise for the steep climb down the col to East Osceola and turned back just 10 minutes short of the peak (we didn't know it at the time). Moral: always be carefully prepared. Today we were and had a fine hike to both peaks.
Distance: 8.4 miles; Climb 2950 feet; Elevation Osceola4340 ft; East Osceola 4156 ft.
