Mt. Jackson June 20, 2005

With the weather continuing to be sunny with cool temperatures, we were out the next day after Hale. Jackson is not a long hike but it was one of the most punishing hikes we have gone on. The trail was unrelentingly rough, wet and muddy (ankle deep in places). Coming down you had to watch every single step. Views from the top were outstandning.

Distance: 5.2 miles; Climb 2150 feet; Elevation 4052 feet

Mt. Hale June 19, 2005

Our second hike up a 4000 footer on Father's Day and our first hike of the summer 05 season. We choose one of the easier 4000 footers in part to get our hiking legs back and in part because there had been so much rain that we were concerned about slippery trails on more challenging hikes. Hale Brook Trail was a bit sloppy but OK. Weather was cool and crisp and the views were restricted on this summit.

Distance 4.4 miles; Climb 2300 feet; Elevation 4054 feet
